Rendez-vous '87

The Rendez -vous '87 was an ice hockey series of two friendly matches in 1987 between an All- Star team of the North American professional league National Hockey League and the National Hockey Team of the USSR. The two games were held in Quebec City on 11 and 13 February 1987. The series replaced in this year's NHL All-Star Game. The host of the Games was the Quebec Nordiques NHL franchise.

The two games were played in the Colisee de Quebec. The first game saw 15,398 spectators, the second game 15,395 visitors were counted. The team of the USSR received a salary of $ 80,000, the team of the NHL earned $ 350,000 for the Pension Fund of the League. It was the first major encounter between the two teams since the Challenge Cup in 1979. For the first time there was this comparison of the Summit Series in 1972.

In the NHL squad stood with Rod Langway and Doug Wilson two players who played even without a helmet.

The squad were on the side of the NHL yet Ron Hextall and Tim Kerr, the Soviet team Vitālijs Samoilovs and Sergei Mylnikov. However, these players were not used.
