Tim E. Kerr ( born January 5, 1960 in Windsor, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player ( Right Wing ) and current - functionary. From 1980 to 1993 he played for the Philadelphia Flyers, New York Rangers and Hartford Whalers in the National Hockey League.

Career

Grew up near Windsor, Ontario, he played as a junior in the OHA, initially for the Windsor Spitfires and later for the Kingston Canadians. In the junior league, he had a stocky player who was not particularly fast on skates reputation. He often positioned himself in front of goal and speculated on Abstaubertore.

In the Draft him no team had chosen and so brought him to the end of his last season as a junior, the Philadelphia Flyers as a free agent. For seven games, the Flyers sent him to their AHL farm team to the Maine Mariners. Six points were a very decent balance here.

After an average performance in training camp for the 1980/81 season no one believed in Philadelphia in mind that Kerr could make the jump to the NHL, but a violation of Ken Linseman tore a gap in the center position with the Flyers and Kerr took advantage of this opportunity. In his first two seasons he scored more than 20 goals each. After a good start to the 1982/83 season with just 11 goals after 24 games, he injured his knee so hard that the season was over for him.

In the coming season he was able to immediately connect with his good form before the injury. In a series with Brian Propp and Dave Poulin earned him the nickname " Sultan of Slot" and scored over 50 goals. This brand he excelled as well in the next three years. In three of those four years, he was the best scorer of the Flyers, only once Brian Propp was able to meet him. As a junior, he posted himself in front of the goalie and hit almost at will. During this period, the Flyers reached the finals twice for the Stanley Cup. 1987 prevented Kerr However, a shoulder injury to de participate in the Finals. In Philadelphia, many believed that Kerr would have prevented the defeat in seven games. The injury brought numerous operations and Kerr returns shortly before the end of the coming season on the ice back.

With 48 goals in the 1988/89 season he celebrated an impressive comeback and this was awarded the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. 1990 hit him a blow when his wife died ten days after the birth of her child. In the years following injury forced Kerr kürzerzutreten. When NHL Expansion Draft 1991 it chose the San Jose Sharks, but they gave him from following the New York Rangers.

In New York, he played only 32 games. Even in his last season in 1992/93, in which he wore the shirt of the Hartford Whalers he only went in 22 games on the ice.

After his playing career, he founded a real estate company. Since 2009 he is the owner of the Pensacola Ice Flyers of the Southern Professional Hockey League.
