Rennesøy

Rennesøy is a commune in the Norwegian Rogaland. The municipality is formed by eight islands: Rennesøy, Mosterøy, Bru, Fjøløy, Klosterøy, Vestre Åmøy, Sokn and Brimse. The municipality is part of the landscape Ryfylke.

History

On Rennesøy 10,000 year old stone tools have been found ( an ax and Pfeil-/Speerspitzen ).

The former Augustinian monastery located on the island Utstein Mosterøy. It was founded after 1263 and was St. Lawrence ( Lavrans ) consecrated. The resolution was done 1536.
