Riesa-GroÃŸenhain

The district Riesa -Großenhain was a district in the northeast of the Free State of Saxony. Neighboring districts were the Brandenburg counties Elbe- Elster and Oberspreewald -Lausitz, in the east of the former district Kamenz, south of the former district of Meissen and in the west the former counties chub and Torgau- Oschatz in the north.

History

The district was created on 1 August 1994 by merging the counties Riesa and Great grove. On 1 August 2008 he was united together with the county of Meissen ( 1996-2008 ) as the new county of Meissen, Meissen is the county seat.

The last District Administrator of Riesa -Großenhain was Rainer Kutschke ( CDU).

Coat of arms
