Robert C. De Large

Robert Carlos De Large ( born March 15, 1842 in Aiken, Aiken County, South Carolina, † February 14, 1874 in Charleston, South Carolina ) was an American politician. Between 1871 and 1873 he represented the state of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Robert De Large Wood graduated from the High School and was then employed in agriculture. At the same time he began a political career as a member of the Republican Party. In 1868 he was a delegate at a meeting to Ṻberarbeitung the Constitution of South Carolina. From 1868 to 1870 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the State. He was also one of the state officer to repay debt. In De Large was State Representative for the management of public land.

1870 De Large was in the second constituency of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he entered on March 4, 1871, to succeed Christopher C. Bowen. This laid but against the election results a contradiction. Pending the decision on the election protest Robert De Large exercised its mandate in Congress. It was only on January 24, 1873, a few weeks before the end of the legislature on March 3, the Bowens objection was upheld and declared the deputy seat vacant. On March 4, 1873 before taking over the 1872 selected Alonzo J. Ransier this mandate.

After his time in the House of Representatives De Large was still a member of the City Council of Charleston. He died on 14 February 1874.
