Roklum

Roklum is a municipality in the district of Wolfenbüttel, in Lower Saxony. It belongs to the Samtgemeinde aces, which has its headquarters in the town of Remlingen.

Geography

Roklum located in the southeast of the district.

History

For the first time the municipality in 1159 was mentioned.

Roklum was incorporated on 1 August 1941 in the wake of the restructuring of the Salzgitter area together with Hornburg and Isingerode from the district of Wernigerode ( Province of Saxony ) off and on in the Wolfenbüttel district.

Mayor

The honorary mayor Ute Heider was elected on 9 September 2001.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was awarded on May 23, 1939 by the Chief President of the Province of Saxony.

Blazon: " Argent, a growing Harzer Fuhrmann with black pants, a blue shirt and black silver embroidered, embroidered cap, in the hands of a whip diagonally keeping to the left. "

The coat of arms was designed by the graphic artist living in Osterweddingen Willy Wise.

Traffic

The Federal Highway 79 Wolfenbüttel - Halberstadt runs right through the town.

Personalities

From 1828 to 1835 the writer and theologian Heinrich Andreas Pröhle ( 1797-1875 ) was a minister in Roklum.

1890 here was born Reinhold Eggers, who became known as a security officer of the officer camp Oflag IV -C at Colditz Castle.
