Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí

The Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí (Latin: Sancti Ludovici Archidioecesis Potosiensis, Spanish: Arquidiócesis de San Luis Potosí ) is a location in Mexico Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in San Luis Potosí.

History

The Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí was posted on August 31, 1854 by Pope Pius IX. with the Papal Bull Deo Optimo Maximo largiente out of territory of the Bishopric of Michoacán erected as a diocese of San Luis Potosí and the Archdiocese of Mexico City is a suffragan. On January 26, 1863 the Diocese of San Luis Potosi was the Archbishopric of Michoacan is a suffragan. The Diocese of San Luis Potosí announced on November 27, 1960 from parts of its territory to the foundation of built by the Apostolic Constitution Cum rectus rerum Diocese of Ciudad Valles.

On November 5, 1988, the Diocese of San Luis Potosi was elevated to an archdiocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Nihil optabilius. The Archdiocese of San Luis Potosí was on May 28, 1997 from parts of its territory to the founding of the Apostolic Constitution Apostolicum officium erected diocese Matehuala.
