Rowing at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's double sculls
The rowing competition in the double sculls of men at the 2012 Olympics in London was held from July 28 to August 2, 2012 at the Dorney Lake. 26 athletes in 13 boats were on.
The regatta, which was held over 2000 meters, began with three heats. The first three made it to the semi-finals, the rest started in the repechage. There, the first three boats could qualify for the semifinals.
In the two semi-finals, the top three qualified for the final A, the other boats for the final B to determine the places 7 to 12

Nathan Cohen and Joseph Sullivan managed the first medal win at the same time and the first Olympic gold medal by a New Zealand boat in this class of boat.
For the 40 -year-old Slovenian Iztok Čop it was the sixth participation in the Olympic Games. It was the bronze medal in London a complete set of medals in the double sculls ( gold in 2000, silver in 2004, all together with Luka Spik ) celebrate. To this was added a bronze medal in 1992 in the coxless pairs. His partner Luka Spik was the fifth time there.
Even the Italian Alessio Sartori took part in the Olympic Games for the fifth time. In addition to the silver medal in London in 2000, he won gold in the quadruple sculls and 2004 bronze in the double sculls.
