Saint-Christophe-sur-Dolaison

The French town of Saint -Christophe- sur- Dolaison is located in the Haute- Loire in the Auvergne region. The village with 957 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) is located on the GR 65, which largely follows the historical course of the French Road to Santiago Via Podiensis. He is classified as a French mountain village and therefore enjoys special advantages in agriculture and planning law.

Geography

Saint- Christophe- sur- Dolaison is a place in the Massif Central and is part of the landscape of the Velay. It is located about 8 kilometers from Le Puy -en -Velay at the intersection of the D906 and the D31. The next major French cities are Lyon ( 116 km) to the northeast, Toulouse ( 244 km) to the southwest, Bordeaux (348 miles) to the west and Montpellier ( 154 km) to the south. The nearest train station is located in Le Puy -en -Velay.

History

Castle and the place mentioned in the 15th century. During the French Revolution, Saint- Christophe- sur- Dolaison was named Christophe and Christophe- la -Montagne. The marketing of agricultural products are under the protected designation of origin Appellation d' Origine (AOC ) Lentille verte du Puy.

Attractions

  • The Church of St. Christopher dates from the 12th century and was for the first time in 1161 in the Hospital of the Knights Templar of Le Puy -en - Valay mentioned. It is built entirely from the reddish volcanic rock of the region and has a lovely bell tower.
  • Once there, you can also see the remains of an old village back home. In the heated oven baked sticks by the villagers bread and pies.

Saint- Christophe- sur- Dolaison to La Roche is the second place on the French route Via Podiensis and is located approximately 8.5 km from Le Puy -en- Velay on the GR 65 In the village there are two private hostels. The historic route of the Camino runs on to Bains, while the GR 65 via Mont Saint- Bonnet private d'Allier. The direct road runs along the D31 to Séneujols, then continue on the D621 to Mont Bonnet and the D589 to Saint -Privat- d'Allier.
