The San Diego Chargers are an American football team of the U.S. National Football League ( NFL) from San Diego, California. They play in the Western Division of the American Football Conference ( AFC).

History

The San Diego Chargers were like seven other AFL teams in 1959, when Los Angeles Chargers founded. The first owner was Barron Hilton, son of the founder of the Hilton hotels, Conrad Hilton. The Chargers stayed only one season in Los Angeles and moved in 1961 to San Diego. 1970 played the Chargers after the merger of the NFL and AFL in the AFC West. Hilton sold the Chargers in August 1966 to a group led by Eugene V. Klein and Sam Schulman.

On August 1, 1984 Alex Spanos purchased 97 percent of the Chargers small, the remaining three percent bought George Pernicano.

In the 1994 season, the Chargers took on their first and to date (2012 ) single Super Bowl, against the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XXIX in Miami Gardens, part. You lost the game 26:49, with 75 points is the most points today to the Super Bowl.

2012

After the Chargers missed the 2012 season for the third time in a row the play-offs, general manager AJ Smith and head coach Norv Turner were released on 31 December 2012.

As Head Coach for the new season, the commitment of Mike McCoy was announced on 15 January 2013. McCoy was previously offensive coordinator of the Denver Broncos. A week before the Chargers presented Tom Telesco as new general manager before.
