Sanlúcar de Barrameda

Sanlúcar de Barrameda is a city in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia ( southern Spain ). The town lies at the mouth of the Guadalquivir River into the Atlantic Ocean.

Sanlúcar living mainly from fishing and the production of sherry, which means there Manzanilla. The city is picturesque, with its partly Moorish houses and villas. The port of Sanlúcar de Barrameda was in the early modern period the starting point for numerous expeditions: in 1498 Christopher Columbus to the third voyage to America, in 1519 Ferdinand Magellan to the circumnavigation.

Sanlucar with its Andalusian ambience is relatively undiscovered by international tourism yet. Worth seeing is the main square in the middle of the city with many cafes and restaurants, surrounded by palm trees. On the opposite bank of the Guadalquivir River National Park Coto de Doñana, boat tours of Sanlúcar from starts are possible.

In Sanlúcar Castle of the Dukes of Medina Sidonia, which stood since 1297 family owned and Isabel Álvarez de Toledo, the 21 Duquesa de Medina Sidonia, which goes back to the year 1228 family archive in 1990, the Fundación Casa Medina Sidonia is was introduced.
