Geography
Geographical Location
Schönberg is located in the Black Forest Nature Park. The municipal area extends from the edge of the meadow valley at 600 meters above sea level to the summit of Ballon in 1414 above sea level.
Nearly 60 % of its territory is forested.
Neighboring communities
The municipality is bordered to the north by Munster / Black Forest in the district Breisgau- Black Forest, on the east by Aitern, to the south by the town of Schönau im Schwarzwald and to the west by the municipalities Böllen and Small meadow valley ( district Neuenweg ).

History
Schoenberg was first mentioned in 1164 in connection with the construction of a church. The location must therefore have been obtained at this time a certain size. Importance was the village by the beginning of the silver mining on the southeast slope of the Ballon d'.
