Scott Fraser (ice hockey)

Scott Fraser ( May 3, 1972 in Moncton, New Brunswick ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among other things for the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

Career

Scott Fraser played in his youth for the Dartmouth College in the National Collegiate Athletic Association belonging to the University and College Sports League ECAC Hockey. NHL Entry Draft 1991, the attacker was selected in the ninth round in a total of 193 position of the Montreal Canadiens, but he stayed for three more years at Dartmouth. In 1993, the Canadian was appointed Second All-Star team in the ECAC.

In the season 1994/95 Fraser played 65 games for the Canadiens farm team, the Fredericton Canadiens of the American Hockey League. He scored 23 goals and totaled 48 points. In the following season he was able to increase his points rate again, so he reached 74 points in 58 games. In the same year he completed his first games in the National Hockey League for Montréal. The AHL 1996/97 season he began again in Fredericton, but was transferred early in the season from the Canadiens to the Calgary Flames. For the Flames, however, the attacker completed not a game, but spent most of the season with Calgary's farm team, the Saint John Flames.

Before the start of the NHL season 1997/98 Scott Fraser signed a contract with the Edmonton Oilers, but he spent most of the season with their farm team, the Hamilton Bulldogs. In Hamilton Fraser scored 61 points in 50 games and was consequently appointed to the NHL squad the Oilers, where he was able to continue this rate and was able to achieve 23 points in 29 NHL games. Thus, he was awarded this year in the months of March and April as the best Neuprofi the NHL. In the playoffs, the striker headed in eleven games with a goal and an assist.

The following year, Scott Fraser signed a new contract with the New York Rangers. In the Rangers he could prevail for the first time at the beginning of a season in the NHL squad, but it was after 28 games in which reach two goals and four assists him sent to the farm team of the Rangers. For the Hartford Wolf Pack Fraser graduated only 36 games before he ended his career after the season.
