SønderjyskE Ishockey is the hockey department of the Danish sports club Sønderjysk elite sport from Haderslev. The Hockey Division was formed in 2004 when Sønderjysk elite sport had taken over the IK Jutland, which had existed under various names since 1963. Play their home games SønderjyskE Ishockey in the 5,000 -seater, and in January 2011 opened from SE Arena.

History

The Hockey Division SønderjyskE Ishockey was founded in 1963 under the name Vojens Ishockey club as an independent club. The Vojens IK belonged to the late 1970s and early 1980s, to the best teams in the country and was between 1979 and 1982 in four years three times Danish champion. From 1997 to 2003 the club 2003/ 04 performed under the name Vojens Lions and in the season as IK Jutland. Then, the ice hockey club was taken over by the sports club Sønderjysk elite sport and the Hockey department received its present name SønderjyskE Ishockey. Under the new ordinary club, the hockey department was able to quickly build on past successes and achieved since the 2005/ 06 season is always at least the playoff semifinals in the Danish AL-Bank Ligaen. While in 2006, 2009, 2010 and 2013 champion, the team in 2007, 2008, 2011 and 2012, reached the third place.

Since 2004, the team is managed by the Italo -Canadian Mario Simioni, who has previously worked as head coach among other things for the Krefeld Penguins of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga.

Its home games wearing the club until 2011 in the 2,300 -seat Vojens Skøjtehal. SønderjyskE was thus the only team in Denmark that its games on a smaller ice surface, as in North America, especially in the National Hockey League, is common discharges. All other ice surfaces meet the standards of the IIHF. In January 2011, with the SE Arena ( sponsor name is Syd Energi ) inaugurated the new venue of the club that holds 5,000 spectators. In addition to 3,000 standing areas are 2,000 seats available, which are among other things in eleven skyboxes and a 400 -seat lounge.
