Spichernstraße (Berlin U-Bahn)

Metro Station is an interchange station Spichernstraße of the Berlin U -Bahn lines U3 and U9 in the district of Wilmersdorf district of Charlottenburg -Wilmersdorf. It was opened on 2 June 1959 ( U3) and 28 August, 1961 ( U9). The platform the U9 is located under the Federal Avenue, the two side platforms of the U3 under Spichernstrasse. In the station list of the BVG station is called Sno ( U3/oben ) and Snu ( U9/unten ) and that has escalators but no elevator system, so it is referred to as non-accessible. By 2013, both the platform of the U3 and U9 get a lift. Other construction projects are also planned in 2013.

Station U9

The station for the U9, like all stations of the former line G is a 8.85 meter wide central platform. Are located on both platforms entrances one Joachimstalerstrasse on the road, the southern via an lobbies and corridors system also to the two side platforms of the U3. The walls were kept light blue at the opening time, painted the hexagonal pillars in dark blue. In the lobbies gray tiles and small mosaic were used in the colors pink, white, and dark blue supports. Designed by Bruno Grimmek station is therefore a standard station of the former line G.

From 1961 to 1971, this station was a terminus, but had no return tracks. Therefore, the trains ended at that time on the platform. To make this possible, before the station a double track change was present, which was removed at the track renewal in the 1980s.

In the years 1986/1987 new wall tiles were installed. According to the plans of Gabriele Stirl white tiles were installed with colored patterns which form the score of a musical piece and should thus give an indication of the location near the train station Joachimsthalsche high school that is widely used by the Department of Music, University of the Arts.

Station of the U3

To the transfer of the former lines AII / BII to allow (now U3) to the then newly built line G (now U9 ), two side platforms were built. Since the former Metro Station Nuremberg place was very nearby, this was closed on June 2, 1959, and rebuilt as a replacement of the underground station Augsburger Strasse. The construction was relatively simple to implement, as previously was a two-track return track system in the area of today's railway station, which belonged to the Nürnberger Platz station. So the train service was performed on the reverse tracks, the old line tracks were removed and erected in its place two side platforms.

The station was given access to both platforms. The southern area was extensive designed, because there the transition to the U9 was miterrichtet. In order to allow the passengers of the eastern side of the platform a subterranean change, a pedestrian tunnel under the tracks was created that connects the side platforms with each other.

Connection

At the metro station is a transfer possibility between the lines U3 and U9 and to bus line 204, the Berlin public transport.
