Stephen Kelly ( born September 6, 1983 in Dublin) is an Irish football player. The right-back is since January 2013 at Reading FC under contract.

Club career

Kelly went through the youth department of Tottenham Hotspur and signed his first professional contract in 2000. In early 2003 he was first hired at Southend United and gave his professional debut. After two months, he returned in late March of Southend and was awarded for the remainder of the season at the Queens Park Rangers. Much of the first half of the season 2003/ 04 he spent at Watford FC in the Football League Championship. After his return to Tottenham he was on 28 December 2003, his debut in the Premier League. Kelly also succeeded in the following season not to play himself into the team final and therefore decided in the summer of 2006 for a change.

For £ 750,000, he joined the second division Birmingham City and signed a three year contract there. In his first season with his new club Kelly succeeded as a regular player on the right-back position of the promotion back to the Premier League.

For the season 2009/10 moved to first division club FC Fulham Kelly.

On January 11, 2013 Kelly moved within the League for Reading FC.

National

Kelly took part with the Irish U20 team at the Junior World Championship in 2003. He came in all three group games available for use, missed the second round against Colombia (2:3) but due to suspension. In 2006, he debuted in the Irish national team in a friendly against Chile.
