Stephen Worobetz

Stephen worobetz, OC, MC, SOM ( born December 26, 1914 in Krydor, Saskatchewan; † 2 February 2006) was a Canadian physician. From 1970 to 1976 he was vice- governor of the province of Saskatchewan.

Biography

The descendant of Ukrainian immigrants worobetz studied medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon and the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg. During World War II he served as a medical officer in the Canadian army in Italy and was awarded for his bravery on the frontline with the Military Cross. After the war he worked as a family physician in Saskatoon and business in Winnipeg and Philadelphia postgraduate studies in surgery.

Governor General Roland Michener sworn worobetz on February 2, 1970 as Lieutenant Governor of Saskatchewan. This representative office he held until 29 February 1976. Subsequently, he worked until his retirement in 1982 again as a doctor. In 1993 he received an honorary doctorate from the University of Saskatchewan and the Order of Canada and the 1999 Saskatchewan Order of Merit.
