Stockholm International Film Festival

The Stockholm International Film Festival (Swedish: Stockholms film festival ) is held annually in November in the Swedish capital Stockholm.

The film festival was founded in 1990 and is accredited as an international film festival with competition in the specialized film producers association FIAPF. In international competition films will be shown, which reflect new cinematographic developments. The festival bills itself as the "Festival of directors " because special attention is given to the contact between filmmakers and audience.

In international competition, there is the main prize, the Bronze Horse ( in the design of a Dalapferdchens ) for the best film. Other prizes will be awarded as the best short film and best debut work. Since 2005 the Visionary Award, the first prize winner is Terry Gilliam.

An offshoot of the festival since 2000, the Stockholm International Film Festival Junior, are shown in the films of children and adolescents.
