Strengen

Strict is a municipality with 1206 inhabitants ( 1 January 2013 ) in the Landeck district in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Landeck.

Geography

Strict consists of several scattered hamlets located mainly on the northern slope of the punch Valley, between Landeck and the Arlberg, on an old Roman road. The site in its mix of Romanesque embossed wall houses and Bavarian wood houses is still quite well preserved. In Peter Anich Atlas Tyrolensis from 1774 the place is mentioned as Gstreng, which etymologically castrensis (Latin for " belonging to the camp " ) can be interpreted as the origin.

History

Severe was founded about 1000 AD Christ under the name " Rallsberg ". Only later is believed that the first owner Strengens 'Strict' was called and this fact led to the name change Strengens. Since then, it was called "severely on Rallsberg ". 100 years later - coincided with the construction of the Arlberg railway then finally putting the Rallsberg. It has since been "severely am Arlberg ".

Culture and sights

Worth seeing is the covered wooden bridge over the Rosanna from 1764, with 18 m span.

A special punch in the valley were the last "Schell forging " of Tyrol, where handmade cowbells were produced which have as opposed to machine-made a special sound. Unfortunately, both companies have ceased operations several years ago.

Traffic

For decades, suffered especially the village along the valley floor heavily from an enormous traffic load.
