Faggen

Faggen is a municipality with 372 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Landeck, in Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is part of the judicial district of Landeck.

The municipality is part of the Nature Park Kaunergrat.

Geography

Faggen is the smallest area municipality of the High Court, the upper portion of the Upper Inn Valley, and lies mostly on the alluvial fan of the current flowing from the Kaunertal ago Faggenbachs. The Romanesque village name means "place in the area of the crossing of a split in poor water". The municipality also includes scattered hamlet north of the village center.

The hamlets are denominated in: Außergufer, Untergufer, Oberg shore, Innergufer, Oberfaggen, Unterfaggen.

Neighboring municipalities are: flow, Kaunerberg, Kaun, Prutz.

History

Faggen was originally part of the judicial district of Ried in Tirol and was named after its dissolution in 1978 part of the judicial district of Landeck.

Economy and infrastructure

Faggen is a very underdeveloped community. It is dominated by agriculture, has no local amenities and offers little jobs. Therefore commute from many residents.
