Subaru Pleo

The Subaru Pleo is a kei car. The first model was larger than conventional Kei cars but shorter than the usual microvans like the Suzuki Wagon R. As in-house development of the Pleo was launched in 1998 and was replaced by a model of the new parent company Toyota and the new sister company Daihatsu 2010.

Pleo I

The first generation of the Pleo was launched on 9 October 1998 and replaced the Subaru Vivio as the Japanese regulations a size change in the kei car class enabled. Unlike the predecessor of the Pleo was officially no longer offered in Europe. Available the Pleo Van was named as " Van ". In June 1999, Subaru launched a luxury edition of the so-called Subaru Pleo Nesta. In October 2000, the Pleo was first offered a revised and held in retro style edition called Niccoto. On the 40th anniversary of Subaru 4WD 2002, three all-wheel drive limited editions were launched on the market and as of October a face-lifted third edition has been started. Based on the Pleo also the Subaru R2 was offered from 2003. As of June 2007, the Van model was only available. In December 2009, the production of PleoI was adjusted.

Due to the cooperation of Toyota with the new model of Subaru Pleo from Toyota subsidiary Daihatsu in badge engineering is produced method for Subaru. This is known to a model of the Daihatsu Mira Daihatsu Cuore in Europe.
