Swimming at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Women's 200 metre backstroke
The competition 200m backstroke women at the 2012 Olympic Games in London was held on 2 and 3 August 2012 at the London Aquatics Centre. 37 athletes took part.
There were five heats. The 16 fastest swimmers of all heats qualified for the two semi-finals, which were held on the same day. For the finals the next day here qualified the fastest eight starters on both runs.

Final
Champion Franklin ( USA) won here the third of its four gold medals in London. With this double victory in the 100 and 200 meter backstroke, it is the sixth woman who managed this achievement.
