Tatra 700

The Tatra 700 is a passenger car model by Czech manufacturer Tatra of the upper class. The vehicle with air-cooled eight-cylinder rear engine was produced as a successor of the type 613-4 from April 1996 to 1999 and was the last car model of Tatra.

History

The development of the Tatra 700 began in 1992. The engineering firm Tim Bishop in the UK should adapt the model 613-4 Mi to the latest emission regulations in the U.S. and Europe. Even the look of the car should it be revised. 1995 dealt Geoff Wardle - working at the European Art Center of Design in Switzerland - with front and rear of the car. This design elements were cited earlier models of the brand. The Czech government, which now drew its service cars from Mercedes -Benz said, too, to order 100 copies of the new Tatra, if this should meet modern requirements. Thus, the new body was developed and presented to government officials in December 1995 in cooperation with Tatra. In April 1996, the first series specimens were finished, but the Czech government broke its promise never.

In addition to the hatchback, there was also a saloon version and the 3.5 -liter engine was set aside a 4.4-liter rear-mounted engine with 294 kW (400 hp) and a top speed of 250 km / hr. Both units had a multi -point fuel injection and a 3- way catalytic converter. Nevertheless, the sales targets were not achieved, and so Tatra was with setting this model 1999 car build on. The total production of Tatra 700 reached only about 65 vehicles. There is also a two-door as Tatra 700 GT labeled version. This was created by converting a damaged Tatra 613
