The Tenerife South Airport ( IATA code TFS, ICAO code GCTs, Spanish Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur Reina Sofia ) is an international airport on the island belonging to Spain Tenerife. About the Reina Sofía airport opened in 1978 about 70 percent ( 2006) of passenger traffic and 30 percent of freight traffic of the Canary Island to be settled.

Location

The airport is located in the south of the island in the municipalities of San Miguel de Abona Granadilla de Abona.

History

The name refers to the Reina Sofía Queen Sophia of Spain, which has opened the airport in 1978. He is the younger of the two island airports and was built specifically for the holiday traffic, as Tenerife North Airport older than 30 years of often lies in the trade wind clouds.

Approach

Buses connect the airport to the southeast of the island, about 50 km away to the island's capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife in the north there is a direct quick connect the southern motorway.
