Thomas Hickersberger

Thomas Hickersberger ( born August 21, 1973 in Offenbach am Main, Germany ) is a retired Austrian football player and current coach.

Career

The son of Josef Hickersberger came in the German city of Offenbach to the world, because his father was active in Kickers Offenbach at this time. Thomas Hickersberger played his first championship games for Vienna. Later he moved to Vorwärts Steyr, with which he became the Bundesliga in 1998. A year later he moved to SW Bregenz. After a year at SW Bregenz and a further year at Admira Wacker Mödling he moved in January 2002 to Austria Salzburg. He was called up during his six-month engagement at Austria Salzburg in the national team, in which he appeared as a substitute in the 2-0 victory over Slovakia in the final phase for Ivica Vastić on 27 March 2002. Then the defender moved to the East Regional, where he oversaw the Wiener Sport Club as a playing assistant coach.

In the summer of 2006, joined the father of three to Vienna, who also played in the Regionalliga East and was there from the summer of 2007 to June 2010 as an assistant coach working ( promotion to the First League in June 2009). As of July 2010, he served as Under-16 head coach at Trenkwalder Admira football academy. Since June 1, 2011 Thomas Hickersberger part of the coaching staff of the SK Rapid Wien.
