Thomas Mermillod Blondin

Thomas Mermillod Blondin ( born January 3, 1984 in Annecy ) is a French alpine skier. He starts mainly in the technical disciplines Slalom and Giant Slalom and in the super-combined, since 2012 also in the super -G.

Biography

The Frenchman, who drives for the Ski Club of Le Grand -Bornand, began as a three year old with the skiing. In 1997, he won the giant slalom of the Trofeo Topolino and Whistler Cup and 1999 a second time the giant slalom of the Trofeo Topolino. After numerous FIS races he started in 2003 for the first time in Skieuropacup. After successes stayed away first, he managed to 2006/07, several top - 10 finishes and denied in January 2007 with the classic giant slalom in Adelboden his first World Cup race. Exactly one year later, he won, also on the Chuenisbärgli in Adelboden, first World Cup points in both the slalom and giant slalom. In the season 2010/11 Mermillod had initially recorded in particular failures, why he could not qualify for the World Cup. On 26 September 2011, one week after the end of the World Cup, he drove in the super combination of Bansko to third place and achieved his first podium in a World Cup race. Nearly a year later, on February 12, 2012, he was third in Super Combined Krasnaya Polyana again on the podium of a World Cup race. Since the season 2011/12 Mermillod Blondin is next slalom, giant slalom and super combined also increased in super- G World Cup race at the start. On 1 December 2012, it reached ninth in Beaver Creek its first Top 10 ranking in this discipline.
