Tokyo International Anime Fair

The Tōkyō Kokusai Anime Fair (Japanese東京 国際 アニメ フェア, Tōkyō Kokusai Anime Fea ), abbreviated TAF, also known as Tokyo International Anime Fair, is one of the largest trade fairs for anime in Japan. The first fair was held in 2002 as Tōkyō Kokusai Anime Fair 21.

Is chaired by the Governor of Tokyo, Shintaro Ishihara. The venue is the Tokyo Big Sight in Kōtō. The fair is always held over four days at the end of March. On the first two days, which are always weekdays, the show is not accessible to the ordinary visitor. It is open only on weekends to the public. In the 2007 exhibition 270 exhibitors ( including 55 foreign) were present and there were 107 713 visitors. In 2008 there were 126 622, 2009 self-reported 129 819 visitors, a new record showed.

In December 2010 announced ten publishers to boycott in protest of a bill presented by Ishihara the fair in 2011. This is to Kadokawa Shoten, Shueisha, Shogakukan, Kodansha, Akita Shoten, Hakusensha, Shonen Gahōsha, Shinchosha, Futabasha and Leed Publishing. As a parallel event to the Tōkyō Kokusai Anime Fair Anime Contents Expo which was lifted from the baptism, which should take place at the same time end of March 2011 at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba. Due to the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake, however, both events were canceled at short notice.

At the fair, both local and foreign productions will be presented and also the Tōkyō Anime Awards (東京 アニメ アワード, Tōkyō anime AWADO ) awarded. Since 2005, also won the fair regardless of the Awards of Merit.

Tōkyō Anime Awards

The Tōkyō Anime Awards were awarded annually since 2002. Here, by the organizers themselves nominated works (ノミネート 作品, nominēto sakuhin ) to stand out from the mass of the animated series and movies, and have been shown in the previous year on TV or sold on a medium. Even self submissions (公募 作品, Kobo sakuhin ) be included in order to promote according to the organizers, the young talents around the world.

The works will be evaluated in by a jury according to various criteria and there are several prizes awarded, which are doped up to one million yen. The Chairman of the Committee is the Governor Shintaro Ishihara capital Tokyo Prefecture.
