Tom Kiely

Tom Kiely ( Kiely actually Thomas Francis, born August 25, 1869 in Ballyneal in Carrick-on -Suir, County Tipperary, † November 6, 1951 in Dublin) was an Irish athlete.

Kiely was. At the Olympic Games 1904 in St. Louis Olympic champion in an all-round competition, a precursor of today's decathlon This competition was organized a few months before the actual Olympics, so that Kiely was not counted as Olympic champion. Kiely launched at that time for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

It was only in the fifties Kiely was declared due to the investigation of an Irish journalist by the IOC subsequently an Olympic champion.
