Tom Rowe (ice hockey)

Thomas John Rowe (born 23 May 1956 Lynn, Massachusetts ) is a retired American professional ice hockey player and current coach and - functionary, who in his time, among others for the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers and Detroit Red Wings in the National Hockey League has played. Career

Tom Rowe began his career as a hockey player with the London Knights, which until 1976 he was active from 1973 in the Canadian Junior Football League Ontario Hockey Association. He was then selected in the NHL Amateur Draft 1976 in the third round than a total of 37 players from the Washington Capitals as well as in the WHA Amateur Draft in 1976 in the second round than a total of 20 players from the Winnipeg Jets. The winger finally decided on the contract offer of the Washington Capitals, where he made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1976/77 season. In his rookie year, he scored a goal and two assists in twelve games. The majority of the playing time he spent but the farm team in Springfield Indians of the American Hockey League.

On 17 January 1980 Rowe was transferred in exchange for Al slope life to the Hartford Whalers. Then he ended his active career at the age of 28.

From 1991 to 1995 Rowe worked for his former team Hartford Whalers - each for two years as assistant general manager and scout players. He then worked for eleven years for the Lowell Lock Monsters of the American Hockey League. In this he was responsible for the Hockey operating and worked as Director of Player Personnel, and General Manager. From 2001 to 2004 he was also assistant coach of the Lowell Lock Monsters, and from 2004 to 2006 their head coach. From 2006 to 2008 he was standing by the AHL Albany River Rats team behind the band, with which he was eliminated in the first playoff round to the Calder Cup both times. He then spent three years as an assistant coach with the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes and one year professional player scout for the team.

For the season 2012/13 Rowe was engaged as head coach of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the Kontinental Hockey League and reached the team's first round of the play -offs. At the start of the following season the team lost 5 of 6 games so that Rowe was released on 19 September 2013. His successor was Pyotr Vorobyov. In November 2013 he was hired as head coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.
