Tomi Mäki

Tomi Mäki ( born August 19, 1983 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since 2008 in Helsinki Jokerit in the SM- liiga under contract.

Career

Tomi Mäki began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Jokerit Helsinki, for the first team, he made his debut in the SM- liiga in the 2001/ 02 season. In the following years the center was a regular for Jokerit and has been with his team in the season 2004/ 05 runners-up. Only in the playoff finals Jokerit of Kärpät Oulu was defeated. Between 2001 and 2003 he also played eight times as Players out on loan for Kiekko -Vantaa in Mestis second-rate. In the summer of 2005 he went to America, where he received a contract with the Calgary Flames, who had chosen him already in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the fourth round as a total of 108 players. However, in the following three years, he played almost exclusively for its farm team Ak -Sar - Ben Omaha Knights and its Nachfolgteam Quad City Flames of the American Hockey League. His only use for Calgary in the National Hockey League he came on 12 December 2006 in the game against the Minnesota Wild.

In summer 2008, Mäki returned to his hometown club Jokerit Helsinki, for which he has since been in the SM- liiga on the ice. In 2010, he took with Jokerit also participated in the European Trophy.

Internationally

For Finland Mäki took at junior level at the U18 World Youth Championship 2001 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 2002 and 2003 in part. In all three tournaments he won with his team bronze medals. In the senior level, he was so far only 2010 in the squad of his country at the Euro Hockey Tour.
