The Université du Québec à Rimouski ( UQAR ) is a French-speaking public university in the Canadian province of Québec. It is headquartered in Rimouski and a secondary campus in Lévis. It belongs to the composite of the Université du Québec. It serves the educational and research needs of the regions of Bas- Saint- Laurent, Gaspésie -Îles -de- la -Madeleine and Côte- Nord.

The UQAR Founded in 1969, it took over the training of teachers and nurses, which was previously run by the Ursulines and the Soeurs de la Charité. New courses were added in the natural sciences, humanities, business administration and engineering. The research priorities of the University are the Oceanography, Regional Development and the " Nordicité " ( Scientific research in northern Canada ).

The main building is the former Ursuline convent, which was founded in 1906. The building was built in 1938 after a fire destroyed the previous building in 1937. The complex was then extended by the Ursuline Sisters and later the University.
