Vibhavadi District

Amphoe Vibhavadi ( Thai: อำเภอ วิภาวดี ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the western province of Surat Thani. The Surat Thani Province is located in the southern region of Thailand.

Geography

The district is the Phuket mountain range. Part of the district is through the Game Reserve ( Wildlife Sanctuary ) Khlong Yan and the National Park Kaeng Krung protected.

The neighboring Amphoe and territories are (from north clockwise): Tha Chang, Phunphin, Khiri Council and Ban Ta Khun Nikhom.

History

Vibhavadi was on 1 April 1992 as a sub-district ( King Amphoe ) was established by two tambon of Amphoe Khiri Council Nikhom were separated. He was named after Princess Vibhavadi Rangsit called, who was killed in 1977 by rebels in the east of the province of Surat Thani.

On August 24, 2007 Vibhavadi been promoted along with all the other 81 sub-districts in Thailand to a full district.

Known Temple

In the district of Vibhavadi there are three Buddhist temples ( Wat ), all belong to the Mahayana community.

Management

The district Vibhavadi is divided into two subdistricts (tambon ), which in turn have together 31 municipalities ( Muban ).

Each of the two tambon is a Tambon Administrative Organization ( TAO - administrative organization ) managed.
