Victor Davis

Victor Davis ( born February 10, 1964 in Guelph, † November 13, 1989 in Montreal) was a Canadian swimmer.

His first major title he won at the World Championships 1982 in Guayaquil about 200 m breaststroke. At the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, he became Olympic champion in the 200 m breaststroke and won the 100m breast and with the Canadian medley relay 4 × 100 m each the silver medal. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, the opponent of Adrian Moorhouse won only silver in the medley relay.

In 1989, he ended his career as a swimmer. A few months after his resignation, he was run over when leaving a bar by a car, the driver committed a hit and run. Two days later he died of his injuries, his organs were released for organ donation.

In 1994, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
