Viktor Kudinskiy

Viktor Kudinski (Russian Виктор Кудинский, English transcription Viktor Kudinskiy, . Born June 17, 1943 in Kiev ) is a former track and field athlete, who competed for the Soviet Union. It was 1966 European Champion in 3000 meters steeplechase.

Kudinski won the steeplechase in 1965 the first European Cup in Athletics 8:41,0 minutes. A year later Kudinski was at the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in his lead in 8:48,2 minutes fourth and qualified for the finals though, but did not look like a winner. The actual favorite, the Belgian Gaston Roelants had, in 1965 the world record improved to 8:26,4 minutes and had not lost a steeplechase since 1961. In the final Roelants took over after two rounds the top and had quickly run out one step ahead of the other runners. Receipt of the last round led still Roelants. Kudinski and his teammate Anatoli Kurjan tried to close the gap. Kudinski happened Roelants on the last ditch, and Kurjan could overtake Roelants shortly before the finish. Kudinski won in 8:26,6 minutes, the second- fastest to go way past time. Behind Kurjan Roelants and four national records have been improved in places 4-7.

In 1968 Kudinski at the European Indoor Games in Madrid the 3000 - meter race in 8:10,22 minutes ago Bernd Dießner from the GDR. At the Olympic Games in Mexico City to Kudinski was able to qualify for the finals in the steeplechase, but there was on.

From 1965 to 1968 he was four times in a row Soviet champion in 3000 -meter steeplechase. In 1966 he was also champion in the 5000 meters.
