Walter Brack

Walter Brack ( born December 20, 1880 in Berlin, † July 19, 1919 ) was a German swimmer.

At the Olympic Games in 1904 in St. Louis, he became Olympic champion in the 100 yard backstroke. In this competition, there was no preliminary heats and the basin was 100 yards long, so in this race no change was necessary. Another feature, took over this distance only U.S. and German swimmers in part. About 440 yards breast he won the silver medal at these games. At the German Swimming Championships in 1903 and 1904 he was for his club Charlottenburg 87 twice German champion in the 100 m backstroke.

In 1997 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
