John Naber

John Naber ( born January 20, 1956 in Evanston ) is a retired American swimmer.

Naber was regarded as the legitimate successor of the German world-class swimmer Roland Matthes back and won at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the gold in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke. Since he won 100 m medley relay and the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay and silver medal in the 200 m freestyle gold medals with the U.S. 4 ×, he became the most successful swimmer of these Games. Overall, he turned to 1976 to 44 world records.

In 1982 he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the international swimming sport.
