William J. Henderson

William J. Henderson ( born June 16, 1947) is an American businessman. He was the 71st postmaster general of the United States.

Biography

Henderson is involved in Signature Systems, Inc. and a member of the National Academy of Public Administration. He has a degree in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and served in the U.S. Army. He was also director of comScore Networks and board member of Economic Development, the Marrow Donor Foundation and the Nature's Best Magazine.

Henderson was 1992-1994 Vice President in Employee Relations, Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President of the United States Postal Service ( USPS). Then he worked from 1994 until his appointment as Postmaster General and CEO of the USPS as Chief Operating Officer. In addition, he was also two and a half years as CEO at Research Bestline and Chief Operating Officer at Netflix Inc. In 1998 he was appointed Postmaster General, a post which he held until his resignation in 2001.

In addition to his work in Washington, he held managerial positions in the postal sector in Chicago, Greensboro, Memphis, Stockton and other locations. Currently, Henderson is a consultant.
