Paul N. Carlin

Paul N. Carlin ( born August 25, 1931) is a former American government official. He was 1985-1986 as United States Postmaster General Director of the American Postal Service USPS.

Career

Paul N. Carlin graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor of Arts in 1958 with a Master of Arts from the University of Wyoming. During this time he was a member of the fraternity Sigma Chi. In addition, he was deputy city manager of Laramie and after receiving his master's Director of Student Employment, Graduate Placement and veteran Relations at the University concerned. He was the first recipient of the Emory S. Land Outstanding Athlete Award.

Carlin was a member of the Reserve Officer Training Corps ( ROTC ) and served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Germany. At 24, he spent a year as a Fulbright Visiting Professor at the University of Baghdad. The U.S. Jaycees named him 1960 " Wyoming 's Outstanding Young Man".

He was 1961-1968 one of the top managers in several national associations in Washington DC such as the National Association of Counties, the National School Boards and the National Audio - Visual Association. He also promoted the adoption of federal laws in conservation, education and community health. The U.S. Jaycees outwitted him at that time as one of the "Ten Outstanding Young Men of America".

Carlin began in 1969 with the United States Postal Service, where he worked as Eastern and Central Regional Postmaster General. In the following year he received the Benjamin Franklin Award, the highest award of the U.S. Postal Service, for his excellent performance in the management and its role in the drafting and enactment of the Postal Reorganization Act. At that time he was Executive Assistant to the Postmaster General. He was later appointed himself to the Postmaster General and held this position from 1 January 1985 until 6 January 1986.

The University of Wyoming took Carlin 1994 in their list of 75 Exemplary Alumni. He recently became chairman of the Business Mail Enterprises ( BME) in Reston ( Virginia).
