Wormsgau

The Wormsgau or pago wormatiensi (also Wormsfeldgau ) was in the Middle Ages a county that stretched not only around the city of Worms, but at times the Rhine far reached out along north to just before Koblenz: the city of Mainz was just as important as the beginning of the 9th century, Boppard, which, however, was lost at 825 again. In the 10th century lost the Wormsgau more Middle Rhine areas, mostly in favor of the Nahegaus, including 937 Ingelheim, Spiesheim 960, 973 and Saulheim Flonheim 996 until the Selz represented the northern border by the end of this shrinkage. The losses in the north west and were able to profit from the Rhine, especially in the Palatinate Forest, partially offset again.

The Wormsgau was among the possessions of the central Salian.
