Geography

Wülflingen is the most north-western district of the city of Winterthur. It borders to the counties Winterthur, Veltheim in the Northeast and Töss in the southeast. In the south Wülflingen borders the municipality Brütten and on the east by Oberembrach, Pfungen and Neftenbach. On a small strip in the north Wülflingen has yet to share a border with Hettlingen.

The county lies between the forested hills Wolfensberg Taggenberg and Brüel mountain. Also for the district, the outer guard Neuburg in the South. The center of the county is drained by the Eulach which opens into Wülflingen in the Töss. The deepest point of Winterthur is located in Wülflingen on the border with Pfungen below the wastewater treatment plant hardware to 393 m asl

Education

In Wülflingen there are eight kindergartens ( Alder Street, Härti, Rappstrasse, settlement Wässerwiesen, Talhofweg, Wässerwiesen, Wieshof and Sprachheilkindergarten Rappstrasse ), four primary school houses ( Ausserdorf, alder road, cross-country meadows and Talhofweg ) and the secondary school building Hohfurri. The outer guard Neuburg owned until 2004 a separate school.

History

The village was founded by the Alemanni Wülflingen. In the year 897 Wulfilinga was first mentioned in a document, the name is derived from the Alemannic tribe leader Wulfilo. From the name Wulfilinga emerged over time Wülflingen.

In the 10th century, the village was home to a noble family of lakes based on the Burg Alt- Wülflingen, only Willebirg of lakes is known as a roll-call representative. The castle was also the seat of the reign Wülflingen that existed until the dissolution of Zurich in 1760 and also the high jurisdiction involved. During this time, had the power back and also many various owners. In the 13th century the rule was in the sphere of influence of the Habsburgs, later the Counts of Habsburg Kyburg (from 1239 ). Other owners were among the other lords of Hettlingen ( 1300, followers of Habsburg Kyburg ), Lords of lakes ( 1315-1386 ), Ulrich von Landsberg - Greifensee, men of Zürich (as of 1455 ). In consequence of the debt of Hans Konrad von Zürich ( He 1529 he beheaded by the people of Zurich ) in 1525 the castle came into the possession of Wülflingen itself, the castle has sold four years later to the Steiner family. This sold the castle to the Escher family - after the Zurich city had prevented a sale of the castle and the associated rule to the city of Winterthur - mind you came from the city of Zurich previously no interest in buying the castle. The Escher family left the castle in 1644 and moved into the newly built castle Wülflingen, whereupon the castle fell relatively quickly. The rule Wülflingen was dissolved in 1760 by Zurich and associated with the bailiwick Andelfingen. 1798 ended in Zurich the ancien regime and Wülflingen was a separate municipality.

Wülflingen has long been a Rebbauerndorf that planted on the southern slopes of the Wolfensbergs vines. Some vineyards have been preserved there to this day. From 1428 the existence of today's Wespi mill is busy, which is a national monument today. Later Wülflingen could participate in the industrial boom, even if settled only a few industries. 1802 was built in the then independent Wülflingen with the spinning hard the first mechanical spinning Gross Europe. From 1820 to 1870 there was spinning flexors, today there is the Integrated Psychiatry Winterthur home. From 1834 to 1883 there was also a paper mill in Wülflingen. 1880 Wülflingen station was opened at the newly built railway line Winterthur - Bülach -Koblenz.

Together with the then independent municipality also Töss Wülflingen 1900 was one of the first municipalities in the canton of Zurich with a social-democratic majority. From 1915 onwards the wrong line 2 tram Winterthur to Wülflingen. Wülflingen 1922 was finally incorporated into the city of Winterthur; the former character of the village is still largely preserved in the center at Linden Square. 1951, the tram line 2 was replaced by up today circulating trolley bus line 2.

Traffic

Wülflingen is crossed by a large main road, the Wülflingerstrasse, the ushers of Neftenbach forth across the entire district in the city. Winterthur has with the A1 exit Winterthur - Wülflingen also a motorway junction, which flows directly into the Wülfingerstrasse.

Arts and Culture

Events

  • The Wülflinger Dorfet ( the Village Festival ) takes place annually on the last weekend in August.
  • The Bambole Openair Festival has been held since 1996 at irregular intervals in mid- August at the Upper Radhof.
  • The Biennial Sculpture Symposium will be held at the cultural center Weiertal in the adjoining park since 2009 every two years during the summer instead of with national and international contemporary artists.

Special Structures

  • On the territory of the city circle stands the castle Wülflingen, which now houses a restaurant. In the castle are some of the Winterthur stoves that time.
  • The castle ruins of Alt- Wülflingen in Totentäli on the castle hill was the former seat of the Earls of Wülflingen, which was inhabited until 1644 by them. The successors moved to the comfortable castle Wülflingen. On Alt- Wülflingen reminds a 18 meter high tower.
  • The castle site Hoh Wülflingen is on the other side of the Totentäli and was previously named Neuburg. The name was now over to the nearby outdoor watch Wülflingens.
  • On the hill Beerberg features the ruins of the former Augustinian Canons pin Beerberg from the 14th century.
  • The predecessors of the Reformed Church Wülflingen go back to the 7th century.
  • The Catholic Church of St. Lawrence was built in the 1950s and has glass windows and email pictures of the artist Ferdinand Gehr as well as works by the mason Albert Schilling.

Sports

  • The TV Wülflingen was founded on August 7, 1875, and thus after the STV Winterthur and the TV Töss the third oldest gymnastics club in Winterthur.
  • The Wülflingen FC was founded in 1924. The club bears the home games on the sports field Sporrer.
  • The Eulach squash club Winterthur plays its games at the squash center Wülflingen.
  • The ATB Wülflingen founded in 1919, is the last surviving in Winterthur section of ATB - Association for sport, transport and leisure, and pursues art cycling and unicycle hockey.

Music

The music company Edelweiss Wülflingen was founded on May 1, 1896, is now firmly anchored Musikverein in Wülflingen, with about 30 active members. The 2006 resolution punk band Hukedicht is originally from Wülflingen, the band itself described the district as " Winterthur -West"
