Xanrey

Xanrey is a commune of 115 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

Geography

The community Xanrey lie, about five kilometers southeast of Vic- sur- seille on the eastern edge of the Saulnois.

History

The small village was first mentioned in 1255, and was appointed in 1684 to France.

By the Peace of Frankfurt the site was launched in 1871 to the German Reich, the border with France was directly at the southern edge of Xanrey. 1915-18 was the village of the Germanized name Schenris, 1918, was returned to France.

During World War II, all villagers were expelled from the German civil administration, the deserted village bore the Germanized name Serrich. In autumn 1944 Xanrey was freed again.
