Yuma County (Arizona)
Yuma County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arizona in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Yuma.
Geography
The County is located in southwestern Arizona, on the west by California and on the south by the two Mexican states of Baja California and Sonora. The county has a total area of 14,294 square kilometers. Here and in the La Paz County is located at Yuma Proving Ground is one of the largest military base in the world.
History
Yuma County was formed on November 9, 1864 as one of the four Originalcountys. The Countygrenzen remained until 1982, when La Paz County was formed from the northern half of the county.
In Yuma County is the historic Brown House, which was recorded with the number 82001626 on 7 December 1982 by the National Register of Historic Places.

According to the census of 2000, there were 160 026 people in Yuma County. There were 53 848 households and 41 678 families. The population density was 11 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was from 68.28 percent White, 2.22 percent Black or African American, 1.64 percent Native American, 0.93 percent Asian, 0.12 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 23.59 percent from other races, together; 3.22 percent were descended from two or more races. 50.47 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 53 848 households out of which 36.9 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 62.3 percent were married couples living together, 11.2 percent were single mothers, 22.6 percent were non-families. 18.5 percent of all households and 8.9 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.86 and the average family size was 3.27 persons.
On the whole, based county the population was composed of 28.9 percent of residents under the age of 18, 10.0 percent between 18 and 24 years, 25.6 percent between 25 and 44 years, 18.9 percent between 45 and 64 years together and 16.5 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 102.0 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 32,182, and the median income for a family was $ 34,659. Males have a median income of $ 27,390, women $ 22,276. The per capita income was $ 14,802. 19.2 percent of the population and 15.5 percent of families are below the poverty line. This included 27.9 percent of the population under the age of 18 and 8.7 percent of the population aged 65 and over.
