Zommange

Zommange ( German Zemmingen ) is a commune with 35 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Château- Salins and Canton Dieuze.

Geography

Zommange lies to the east of Metz near the pond Linder ( Etang de Lindre ) at an altitude 210-242 m above sea level, the average height is 220 m. The municipality covers 6.34 km ². The municipality is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

History

Zommange was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War in 1650 and had no inhabitants. The small village belonged to the German Empire 1871-1918, but remained French official and vernacular. Zommange time had significantly more residents than it is today (1885: 92 inhabitants).
