San Mateo (Isabela)

San Mateo (Filipino: Bayan ng San Mateo ) is a Philippine municipality in the province of Isabela, Administrative Region II, Cagayan Valley. It has 60 792 inhabitants ( census May 1, 2010 ) living in 33 barangays. It is classified as a church of the first income class in the Philippines and as a partially urbanized.

San Mateo is located in the west of the province. It lies at the foot of the mountain massif of the Cordillera Central in the west, in the valley of the Magat Rivers. It is located 351 km north of Manila and is accessible via the Marhalika Highway. The nearest airport is in Cauayan City, this is sometimes served by the airline Cebu Pacific four a week. Your neighboring municipalities are Alfonso Lista in the West, Ramon in the south, Alicia in the southeast, Cauayan City in the east, Cabatuan and Aurora in the north.

San Mateo is best known for the cultivation of mung bean. This is required to play this popular dessert in the Philippines Halo - halo to produce. The mung bean is also known as the "black gold of San Mateo, Isabela ."
