1984–85 Nationale A season

The 1984/85 season was the 63rd season of the National A, the highest French Hockey League. Champion for a fifth time in club history the Sporting Hockey Club Saint Gervais. The Hockey Club de Caen descended to the second division.

Mode

The twelve teams completed in the main round for 22 games. The top six teams qualified for the final round, in which the Master was played. The six last placed athlete had to compete for the league in the relegation round, where the last placed the relegation round relegation to the second division. The points from the main round were incorporated into the final or relegation round. For a win, each team was given two points, a draw there was a point and a defeat.
