1987–88 Courage League

The season 1987/1988 the English Premier League was the first season of the top flight of English rugby union championship. For sponsorship reasons it was called Courage League. As in the days before the league establishment, there was no fixed schedule and the clubs appealed the scheduled among themselves. Most teams competed to eleven games, but some are only ten. The first English league titles won by the Leicester Tigers, while the Coventry RFC and Sale Sharks had to dismount.

National Division One

The season of second division ( National Division One) comprised eleven game days, each team played once each against the other. The two top-ranked teams, Rosslyn Park FC and Liverpool St Helens FC, ​​went up into the Premiership. There were no losers in this season.
