1996 IndyCar season
The IndyCar 1996 season was the 18th season of American racing series. This was the last season under the name IndyCar and the first after the elimination of the Indy Racing League. The season consisted of 16 races. The first race was held from 1st to 3rd of March in Homestead ( USA); the finale was held from 6th to 8th September 1998 Monterey ( California ) (United States ). The season was overshadowed by the fatal accident of Jeff Krosnoff in Toronto. Jimmy Vasser won this season. Rookie of the Year was Alex Zanardi.
