1997 European Cross Country Championships
The 4th European Cross Country Championships were held in the EAA Oeiras ( Portugal) on 14 December 1997. For the first time among youth competitions for the program.
The men started over 9.3 km, women and juniors over 5.4 km, and the junior women over 2.8 km.

As the only participant from a German speaking country, the German Melanie Kraus came to tenth place ( 18:20 ).
