2. Liga (Slovakia)

The second league is the second highest Slovak league in football men. It was established in its current form in 1993, after the division of Czechoslovakia. It consisted initially from 1993 to 2007 of 16 teams, except from 1997 to 2002, where 18 teams took part. Since the 2007/ 08 season, the system is equal to the Corgoň league (12 teams). The only difference is that two teams descend. In years 1997 - 2011 it has carried the name first league since the summer of 2011, she re-transmits the name of 2nd league.
