2000 OFC Nations Cup

The football Ozeanienmeisterschaft 2000 ( engl.: OFC Nations Cup ) was the fifth playout of the oceanic continental championship in football and found from 19 to 28 June 2000 Tahiti instead. All matches were played at the Stade Pater Te Hono Nui in Papeete. At the tournament took with Australia, the Cook Islands, New Zealand, Tahiti, the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu, in turn, only six teams participate. However, there were again two qualifiers, the Melanesia Cup 2000 and the Polynesia Cup 2000. Australia and New Zealand were set for the main competition. It was played in two groups a three teams. The two group best qualified for the semifinals.

Australia was the third time the Oceania and was qualified for the FIFA Confederations Cup 2001 in Japan and South Korea.

Qualification

Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands as a representative of Melanesia qualified on the Melanesia Cup in April 2000 in Suva, Fiji and Tahiti and the Cook Islands as a representative of Polynesia on the Polynesia Cup 2000 in June in Papeete on Tahiti.
